Hyundai Extends Its Five-Year Warranty

Hyundai, the original and by far the longest offerer of a factory five-year new car warranty, has extended the allowable distance driven under its warranty from 130,000 to unlimited kilometres, as one of many special “Thank You” deals offered to buyers in January and February marking Hyundai’s 20th anniversary in Australia.

The unlimited kilometre warranty offer, which is transferable to subsequent owners, applies to all Hyundai models bought within the two months and used for private motoring only.

Five-door Getz 1.4—launched last month—and Getz 1.6 and Accent models will cost no more than their three-door stablemates from $13,490*, $14,490* and $14,990* respectively, a saving of $1000 each. As one Victorian Hyundai said: “Australia’s Best Small Car award winner, five doors for the price of three and unlimited kilometres……it doesn’t get any better than that for light car buyers!”

Elantra 2.0 HVT sedan or liftback retail customers will be offered a no-cost upgrade to the FX model from $18,490* which brings standard ABS with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), cruise control, leather trimmed steering wheel and gearshift knob, trip computer, high-level centre console, roof console and more, all for a saving of $1500 based on the normal FX price from $19,990*.

Similarly, buyers of 2005 model Tucson V6 AWDs can upgrade to an Elite or Elite S for no extra cost beyond the entry level $29,990*, representing savings of $2500 on the Elite or $3210 on Elite S. The Elite adds four more airbags—front seat sides (thorax) and cabin roof curtains, power sunroof, leather-trimmed steering wheel rim and gearshift knob, trip computer, tweeter speakers, polished alloy-look centre dash panel, plusher interior cloth trim and more stylish six-spoke alloy wheels including spare all shod with sportier 235/60 Bridgestone Turanza tyres. The Elite S further adds body-coloured bumpers and side cladding.

Prospective buyers of the 3.5 litre petrol V6 variant of either Terracan or Terracan Highlander seven-seat, dual-range 4WD can opt for their fuel-frugal CRDi Turbo-Diesel sibling at a $2000 saving. This offers a latest-tech common-rail, direct-injection turbo-diesel 4WD Terracan from a benchmark affordable $35,490*.

As well, existing stocks of Santa Fe V6 AWD now on run-out and 2005-model petrol V6 Terracan variants are being heavily bonused so dealers can offer good deals to clear them.

Hyundai started in Australia in January 1986 in Perth and has since sold nearly 580,000 vehicles locally. In 2005, Hyundai consolidated its seventh ranking in Australian auto sales stakes, retailing 48,010 cars, SUVs and people-movers to claim a 4.9 per cent market share with a healthy 13 per cent increase over 2004.
