| Mazda has again set the lightweight, affordable sports car benchmark with the arrival this month of the third generation MX-5 |
Mazda Australia has maintained its sales momentum in February, retailing an impressive 5481 vehicles last month.
While sales were buoyant across all of the company’s core models, the MX-5 sports car shone, posting its second best month since the all-new, third generation model went on sale in October last year. Last month Mazda sold 162 MX-5s, up from 139 in January.
Mazda Australia’s national vehicle sales manager, Vinesh Bhindi, said: “The MX-5 result no doubt reflects the car’s success in winning Australia’s most coveted automotive prize, the Wheels Car Of The Year award.
“When the RX-8 won the Wheels prize in 2003 we saw an immediate sales jump and that looks like being repeated with the MX-5 roadster”.
Mazda3 continued to lead Mazda’s sales in February with 2577 retails, while the Mazda6 (1213) and the Mazda2 (522) also sold strongly.
Mazda is the country’s top-selling full-line importer.
